Our engagement story:

We got engaged in the middle of the pandemic in the Lake District. It was just the two of us. Michelle proposed to me in a little cabin we’d rented for a few days. I had a ring to ask her the same question right back!

Our love story:

We’re both teachers who met at work. I fell head over heels for Michelle pretty quickly.

What it means to be a Catherine Deane bride:

Michelle wanted to wear a dress but was so worried she wouldn’t find something to suit her. She’s not someone who normally wears dresses and she didn’t want something traditional. She was so so happy to find something that was beautiful, suited her personality, wasn’t traditional and she just felt totally comfortable in.

Falling in love with my Catherine Deane gown:

Michelle visited Flamingo Boulevard bridal in Liverpool. She picked it because it had beautiful non-traditional dresses. She took my mum and my Aunty and loved the skirt top combination as soon as she tried it on. She went in really nervous and left with a huge smile on her face.

WEDDING DETAILS

Our wedding venue:

Holmes Mill in Clitheroe. We wanted something pretty but with an industrial feel.

Our wedding style:

We wanted bright colours and just a relaxed feel. Being a same-sex couple made us feel we didn’t have to stick with any traditions and just do things the way we wanted. We met and live in Manchester and we love the city so we had small things that celebrated Manchester- the hexagon backdrop/cake stand and wax seal bees on our menus.

Our photographer & videographer:

Jo Greenfield -- she is beyond incredible! She captures the most natural moments and she is just such a funny, warm-hearted person. Her video just captured us and our day perfectly.

Our Honeymoon destination:

We went to Jamaica. We booked it two days after the wedding and went a week later. The pandemic meant things were last minute but it was the most amazing two weeks!

Our most memorable moment:

Walking down the aisle and seeing each other’s dresses for the first time and sitting at our sweetheart table just having time to be together and take it all in.

The funniest moments of the day were:

I mean it's hard to pick! As you’ll see from the photos we spent most of the day laughing. The dance floor was such good fun -- Michelle in her pink wig loving life was definitely a highlight.
